Shogun

So I'm going through an insanely saturated Cyclonus fan-crazy phase with his appearance in the More than Meets the Eye comic series from IDW. I've always been a big fan of him, always held him in my heart as my favorite Decepticon, so I'm feeling pretty spoiled with all the attention he's been getting in the series XD

I've just been mesmerized by this guy's face, I'm absolutely in love with the skull look that E.J. Su started back in the Spotlight series, and it's really morphed and evolved nicely. And, c'mon, those uneven horns make for a fun composition element to play around with in a drawing, they demand to have a tall picture format to divide and conquer in.

I'm also continuing to go through my screentone-crazy phase, I really like using it for my backgrounds to fill in the emptiness and add some movement, and I also like layering it over the subjects themselves, I like how it looks over the cell-shading color technique I've been rolling with recently. If you've never experimented with screentones before, I highly recommend it, especially if you've got an add-on program that allows for colored tones.
